Hi Market Goers,
The Jackson County Farmers Market operates every Saturday from 9 – 12 at Bridge Park in downtown Sylva. This Saturday, June 21st we will be having a Quesadilla Fundraiser from 10 – 12. We are closing in on our goal for funding a Storage Shed to be built on Bridge Park property. Greens from Vegenui Garden and other delicious Market items will be used. Come learn more about the hidden treasure of Greens!
Blueberries are in and Strawberries are still around. Last week I saw large heads of Broccoli at Balltown Bee Farm, greenhouse tomatoes and cucumbers at Dawson Green, and Vegenui had a buy one try one sale on greens. Vegenui also had tasty slices of radishes to try and Backwoods Bakery always has at least four different delightful treats to taste test at their booth. Last week my favorite was chocolate chip scones. Also, Dark Cove’s Goat Cheese and Pete’s Mozzarella cheese are both back for the season! My point is, you never know what you will find at the market – I am always pleasantly surprised!
This just in: Natural Cleaning products for many needs including laundry, windows and furniture can now be found at the market on a regular basis.
Chidlren’s activities are starting back up. Family Art at the Market will be under the pavilion from 10 -12 and 4H will begin their presence at the market this week doing nutrition programming which will include crafts, activities and snacks. A look ahead: Saturday June 28th, Papermaking with local artist Frank Brannon.
And don’t forget you can swipe your SNAP, Credit or Debit card in exchange for tokens that can be used anytime at the market.
