The Pros and Cons of Market Day

The Jackson County Farmers Market takes place each Saturday morning from 9 to 12:00 at Bridge Park in downtown Sylva. We are a producer only market which means we sell products that have been grown, raised or created locally in Jackson or surrounding counties. It also means we are subject to the whims of the weather, and this has created an issue for Shelton Family Farm strawberries this year. Sad to say, there just aren’t that many and more than likely, not enough to make it to market.

Family Art at the Market (FAM) will be making miniature Market Booths and/or gardens with modeling clay from 10 -12 under the pavilion this Saturday with kindergarten teacher Ms. Madill.  FAM is sponsored by the Jackson County Arts Council and provides hands on projects for kids at the market each Saturday.

The Market is looking for local vegetable growers, meat producers, trout farmers, and jam/jelly makers. If you are interested in vending food related items at the market and live in Haywood or one of the Far West counties please visit our registration page for more information or email Jenny at

Visit our website or Facebook page – Glorious Jackson County Farmers Market to keep informed of what the market has to offer each week and remember – SNAP, Debit or Credit cards are welcome – stop by the Information Booth for tokens.
