Purchasing Programs

Not carrying cash? Not a problem! Many of our vendors bring their own point of sale, and are happy to take your debit, credit or digital payment options.  Additionally, the manager’s booth at Jackson County Farmers Market uses a point of sale to issue tokens for you to use just like cash while shopping.  These tokens are redeemed for cash by vendors at the end of each market, ensuring that everyone is settled up.

SNAP/EBT

We have been approved to accept SNAP/EBT payments at our Farmers Market! Please follow these instructions to use SNAP/EBT at the Macon County Farmers Market:

  1. Bring your SNAP/EBT card to the market Welcome Center tent.

  2. Swipe your card for the amount of money you want to spend.

  3. Receive that amount of money in $1 market tokens to use on eligible products at individual farmer stands.

  4. Shop for fresh and healthy food while supporting local farmers!

  5. No cash back, but tokens do not expire.

Visit the USDA website for a complete list of SNAP eligible food items.

Double SNAP

Thanks to a generous grant from the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina, the Macon County Farmers Market will DOUBLE any SNAP/EBT dollars spent at our market this season! Just visit our Welcome Center booth during market hours, swipe your EBT card for your chosen dollar amount, and we will give you TWICE that amount in Market Tokens to be spent on EBT eligible items at the farmers market.
